SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- What was once a place where hundreds of teens gathered on a daily basis, will soon have fresh life as a home for CTE programs.

The South Bend Community School Corporation voted 5-2 tonight to continue using the Clay High School building.

Although it officially closed last year, the school is planning to keep the building around as a space for career and technical education programs.

ABC57 heard from board members on both sides of the issue tonight once that meeting wrapped up.

"While it's still pending before the courts, there's never been any final determination that we have to sell the building for $1 and until we get to that point, I think we should continue to hold on to it," stated Board Member Marcus Ellison.

Those who voted against the space say they're concerned about maintenance on the building since it hasn't been used much in the past year.

ABC57 will keep you updated on the old Clay High School building as we learn more about its future in the district.
