MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The historic Union-Pacific steam train nicknamed "Big Boy" went through Argos, Indiana today, thrilling an enormous crowd of train enthusiasts.

Union Pacific's famed Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, is journeying to the East Coast this summer for the first time as part of a historic coast-to-coast tour to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. The tour includes a Fourth of July celebration in Philadelphia, major display events in eight cities and more than 50 whistle-stops in ten states, including stops for the first time in Indiana, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.

Hundreds of people turned out today to see the train, many coming from out-of-state. When asked why he thought so many people were interested in the sight, local Sherriff Matthew Hassel said "I think it's the nostalgia of the train itself, there was only 25 of them made, only 10 of them are still in existence and only one is still in operation and that's this one coming through."

If you didn't make it to Argos today, but you'd still like to see the steam engine, you'll have another opportunity in Knox on July 16th. you can find more information or check the train's schedule here.
