Berrien County road and railroad crossing will be closed starting June 11

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Road Department announced on Monday that Union Pier Road in Chikaming Township will be closed at the CSX railroad crossing for repairs starting on Tuesday.

Road officials say the detour route for the closure will recommend motorists take Union Pier Road to Lakeside Road to Red Arrow Highway.

The Lakeside Road intersection with Warren Woods Road will remain open to traffic traveling along Lakeside Road, but Warren Woods Road is additionally closed to thru traffic between Red Arrow Highway and the I-94 overpass.

"Subject to work progression, the Union Pier Road railroad crossing is anticipated to reopen Saturday, June 15," said Berrien County Road Department Communications Coordinator Adri Boone.
