BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Three local businesses were recognized on Wednesday after donating the necessary funds needed for the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office to purchase a brand-new drone.

The new Autel EVO II Dual unmanned drone will help officers collect high-resolution and thermal images through its advanced camera.

With a second drone for use, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office now has increased capabilities for locating missing persons and collecting evidence at traffic crashes and crime scenes.

“We are extremely fortunate to have generous businesses that are willing to partner with our agency to help us acquire tools like this,” said Sheriff Bailey.

Financial contributions that allowed the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office to purchase this drone were provided by LeValley Chevrolet-Buick-GMC, Lane Automotive and Orchard Hill Sanitary Landfill.
