BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Jail has purchased a new full body scanner that will help detect if inmates are attempting to smuggle drugs by swallowing them.
The new precaution is in place in an attempt to keep the complex drug-free after an inmate overdosed on meth last year.
County commissioners are applying for a $50 thousand grant to help cover the cost of the $165 thousand investment.
