Benton Harbor fire leaves home in ruins Monday

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- At approximately 12:00 p.m., the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a structure fire in the area of Hastings and Colfax on Monday. 

BHDPHS and other units arrived to find a two-story home with smoke showing. 

The fire was in the basement, and due to the homes condition, crews were no able to enter the basement. 

The fire coupled up with 30 mile per hour wind, delayed the attack. 

Units withdrew and went into defense.

There were no injuries, but the home was not able to be saved. 

BHDPS were assisted by Benton Charter Township Fire Department, St. Jospeh Department of Public Safety, Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters, Medic One Ambulance, and Berrien County 911.
