Baugo Township, Ind. -- Baugo Township still is embroiled in financial questions.
Monday, witnesses took the stand in a bench trial to determine longtime trustee Katherine Weaver’s involvement in hundreds of thousands of dollars unaccounted for since 2019, leaving major discrepancies between beginning and ending balances were revealed in a state audit.
Katherine Weaver was present in court as the bench trial wrapped up, but it’s not over just yet.
In lieu of closing arguments, the attorney’s will have until March 12th to file their findings and conclusions.
From there they will have until March 28th to respond, before the Judge issues a ruling.
Another affidavit was filed just last week, by Baugo Township resident, Melissa Kauffman- Miller thought the Elkhart Superior Court, and says she is calling for accountability in office.
“I really would’ve liked to have seen an outcome resolution today because this is it’s it has created a very hostile environment in our community,” said Kauffman.
Another regular board meeting will be held Tuesday at 6pm.
ABC57 reached out to the trustee for comment, but she declined due to the ongoing court proceedings.
