UPDATE: Suspect name released in Marshall County baby abduction
Marshall County Jail UPDATE TWO: Indiana State Police and the Indiana Clearinghouse for Missing Children and Missing Endangered Adults confirmed to ABC57 that the Marshall County Sheriff's Department requested an Amber Alert following the child's abduction.
ISP officials say Clearinghouse personnel received and approved the alert to be pushed to the public, but the child was found before it was sent.
Due to that, the alert was removed.
Authorities say the child was missing for at least two hours.
UPDATE: 45-year-old Bobby Jo Novak, will be facing two criminal charges for child abduction.
The criminal charges are Kidnapping, a Level 5 Felony and Criminal Confinement, a Level 5 Felony.
An abduction was reported in the area of Del Lo Me Lane, located east of Plymouth, on July 7 at about 11:40 a.m. Officers from the Merrillville Police Department in Lake County and the US Marshall's Office located the vehicle suspected in being involved. The suspect was taken into custody, and the 3-month-old was located.
A press conference will be held tomorrow at the Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 9:30 a.m.
ORIGINAL STORY: MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Police in Northwest Indiana assisted in locating a 3-month-old child Tuesday after they were notified by Marshall County authorities.
The Merrillville Police Department reports Central Dispatch was notified around 12:30 p.m., that a vehicle associated with the child abduction was detected by a Flock License Plate Reader in the area.
Officers responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle.
Police safely recovered the child, who was unharmed.
A woman was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect is being held pending further investigation by the appropriate agency.
