Avoid the outdoors on Friday, dangerous wind chills ahead
Today is likely the last of double digit high temperatures this week as highs are expected to peak in the low 20s. Lake effect snow showers are present this morning near the state line, but dry air is limiting how much of that snow gets to the ground. Mostly cloudy skies stick around overhead and Michiana is in for a generally quiet day ahead. Later tonight, a cold front ushers in arctic air and another burst of scattered snow showers. While the snow may accumulate to an inch by the end of Friday, the main concern is the dangerous cold. Wind chills Friday morning will tally between -20 and -30 degrees; those "feels like" temperatures can cause frostbite to occur in less than half an hour. A cold weather advisory is in effect from now until tomorrow afternoon. The extreme cold stays with us most of this weekend with a chance for heavy snow south of US-30 Saturday night into Sunday.
Today: Mostly cloudy. High 24.
