Arrest made in robbery at Smoke and Vape shop

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A man who allegedly robbed a business and injured an employee has been arrested and charged, according to Michigan City Police.

On March 3 just before 10 a.m., a man hit an employee on the head and left the Smoke and Vape Shop on Franklin Street with an undetermined amount of cash.

Detectives arrested 32-year-old Avery Smith after conducting an investigation.

Smith has been charged with robbery resulting in bodily injury and battery resulting in moderate injury.

Avery was issued a $25,000 cash bond and will have an initial hearing on Tuesday.
