Arrest made in Dowagiac hit-and-run involving motorcycle
DOWAGIAC, Mich. – An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist in critical condition on Monday, the Dowagiac Police Department reported.
Dowagiac Police received information of a possible suspect in the incident and when officers made contact with the suspect, she confessed to striking the motorcycle and then leaving the scene after the crash, according to reports.
The suspect is a 37-year-old woman from Dowagiac, police said.
Police were told by the suspect that after the crash, she took her vehicle home and placed it in the garage.
Police located the vehicle which was impounded.
The investigation revealed that the suspect’s driver’s license was revoked when this crash occurred, reports said.
The suspect was taken to the Cass County Jail and arrested for hit and run accident causing serious injury, operating while license revoked causing serious impairment of bodily function, and moving violation causing serious injury.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending her arraignment.
The victim remains in critical condition.
