Applications open for Berrien Community Foundation 'For Good Grants' program

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien Community Foundation announced applications are now open for their 'For Good Grants' program, geared toward 501c3 non-profit organizations, schools, religious organizations doing community work and government organizations serving residents of the county.
“Last year we were able to fund over 40 very different projects that enhanced lives across the county through our For Good Grants program,” said BCF President Lisa Cripps-Downey. “BCF grants focus on the whole spectrum of what we believe makes our community a wonderful place to live, work and play – everything from the arts to education to caring for our seniors. It is so powerful to see what those gifts can do for our community.”
Foundation officials say the grants come in two sizes, major and minor.
Major grants are available for between $1,500 and $15,000, while minor grants are available for up to $1,500.
Summer theater programming for youth, food pantries and conservation workshops for local farmers are just a few of the previously funded ideas, officials said.
According to foundation officials, most grant applications fall into the categories of arts, children, community development and special needs, education, environment, health, seniors, and youth leadership.
BCF awards the "For Good Grants" twice a year. Grant applications are due April 1 for the spring cycle and Oct. 1 for the fall cycle.
