NOW: Amatrak has multiple local trains impacted by cold temperatures this week

NILES, Mich. -- Severe cold will be impact Amtrak’s service for its Wolverine route from Chicago to Pontiac, Mich. beginning Sunday and projected to last through Wednesday.

“We have been directly notifying customers of cancelations, posting @AmtrakAlerts on X and, given the magnitude of this weather event, showing a Service Alert in the media center, the desktop Amtrak.com and our apps,” Amtrak Senior Public Relations Manager Marc Magliari said in an email.

“We have arranged for substitute transportation for the canceled Borealis, Hiawatha, Wolverine and Carl Sandburg trains."

A list of trains impacted in the Michiana area is provided below according to Amtrak’s website

Sunday, Jan. 19

  • Trains 352 & 354 are canceled. Alternate bus transportation will be provided.
  • Wolverine Service (operating between Chicago & Pontiac, Mich.)

Monday, Jan. 20

  • Trains 351, 352, 353 & 354 are canceled. Alternate bus transportation will be provided.
  • Wolverine Service (operating between Chicago & Pontiac, Mich.)

Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Trains 351, 352, 353 & 354 are canceled. Alternate bus transportation will be provided.
  • Wolverine Service (operating between Chicago and Pontiac, Mich.)

Wednesday, Jan. 22

  • Trains 351 & 353 are canceled. Alternate bus transportation will be provided. WolverineService (operating between Chicago and Pontiac, Mich.)
