A wintry start to the weekend with widespread snow today

With widespread system snow on the way this morning, a winter weather advisory has been issued for our entire forecast area until Saturday (1/11) at 1 AM. Snow showers arrive at US-31 around 6 AM, advancing east the rest of today. Expect minor morning travel impacts, mainly low visibility and slippery conditions on your way to work or school. The snow becomes more consistent and widespread as the day goes on, causing more issues during the PM commute than the AM one as highs peak near 30F. Generally, anywhere south of US-30 will see 1-2" with higher amounts more likely closer to the lake. A secondary band of lake effect sets up late tonight, lasting into early Saturday morning before most wake up.  Quieter weather follows the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday with frigid temperatures never making it past the freezing mark. Snow returns Sunday night with a clipper system swinging from the north, helping to trigger lake effect snow showers on and off through Tuesday next week.

Today (Friday): Snow showers. High 29.

Tonight: Snow showers. Low 22.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy. High 28.

Sunday: PM snow showers. High 30F.
