GOSHEN, Ind. --- Arguably the best part of the Elkhart County Fair is the food. From mini donuts, to corn dogs, to tacos, it’s all here but everyone has their favorite.

For the 2019 Elkhart County fair queen, it’s the sweet stuff.

“This queen’s taste buds love donuts, those are my all-time favorite!” Grace McCoy, the Elkhart County Fair Queen said.

Others like the savory stuff, like Rachel Weaver.

“I’m a pretty big fan of the cheese, the mozzarella sticks,” Weaver said. “Cinnamon rolls! We like it all.”

While, there are not many things you can go wrong with, Mama Jane Harris, a 30-year fair veteran, said there are two reasons to come see her at the Best-All-Around food truck.

“The new mint chocolate chip covered Oreo's and the new lemon poppy seed elephant ears!” Harris said. “I know this one is going to be super special anyone that likes mint chocolate, you’re in for a treat, but the lemon poppy seed elephant ear, it’s so light and airy and fresh, it’s the perfect treat on a hot summer day.”

Both the mini-chocolate chip fried Oreo's and the lemon poppy seed elephant ears are brand new to the fair this year.

If it’s the savory stuff that’s important, there’s plenty of cheese to go around at Charlie Cheese and Sons; Thousands of pounds of it to be exact

“There’s 3,500 pounds of cheese total here,” Rhiannon Steiner said, who runs Charlie Cheese and Sons with her husband. “Mozzarella fingers like mozzarella sticks if you’ve had them at a restaurant, but these will be a little bit creamier, a little bit fresher, and not so much stringy but a creamier mozzarella.”

Whether it’s the cheese, corndogs, or the sweet stuff that gets you going at the fair, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

“It’s the best place to make memories!” McCoy said.
