UPDATE: A suspect was on the flee from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials after being transported on I-94.

During the transport the suspect freed himself from his restraints and jumped from a moving vehicle, fleeing across the highway into a brush line.

The suspect was hiding near a marsh area for more than five hours.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

UPDATE: The suspect has now been apprehended and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. -- Police are searching for an escapee Tuesday afternoon near the Burns Harbor/Porter Exit 22.

The Indiana State Police report the man was last seen wearing dark pants and a black "Scarface" t-shirt.

He's described as a Hispanic man and was also last seen wearing shackles.

The suspect escaped from another agency, not ISP.
