Ivy Tech Community College welcomes students back

SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Ivy Tech Community College is welcoming students with a showcase by ABC57's Siara Carpenter.

School is back in session at all Ivy Tech colleges statewide. The South Bend campus offers more programs than it did last year to help students learn and be successful.

The IvyCares program, which supports students with emergency assistance, food and mental health referrals, was expanded into a new room. The new space is in a densely populated area right across from the Student Lounge. Traffic has increased to the room since its opening.

There are also new focuses offered in Building Construction Technology and an AI degree. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program received a Workforce Pell approval, allowing more students to get certified for less.

As more people return to college for certifications, Ivy Tech has several specialized programs to gear people towards the careers needed in Michiana.
