88-year-old dies several days after crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- An 88-year-old man died several days after he was injured in a scooter crash Friday afternoon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened on SR 19 around 1:45 p.m.

Deputies said Willard Mast was riding his scooter north on SR 19 when the scooter collided with a curb.

Mast was ejected from the scooter and suffered injuries to his head and hands.

Mast died of his injuries on Monday, deputies said.

Deputies said there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
