LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 64-year-old La Porte man is dead after suffering a gunshot Monday night in the 2900 block of US 20.

The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the home around 6:53 p.m. regarding a person suffering from a gunshot wound,

Authorities arrived to find the victim, identified as James D. Williams.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded and have taken control of the investigation.
