BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Twenty-two grants of a combined total of $250,000 have been awarded to organizations across Berrien County and the wider Michiana area.

The 22 grants have been awarded by the Joseph N. and Rosemary E. Low Family Foundation, a family foundation fund established in 2023 as part of the Berrien Community Foundation.

Three $50,000 general-support grants were awarded to the Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Reserve in Niles, Fried's Cat Shelter in Michigan City, Indiana, and the Chicago History Museum in Chicago.

Additionally, a $10,000 general-support grant was awarded to The History Museum in South Bend, Indiana.

The remaining 18 were We See You Grants, each totaling $5,000 and going to the following nonprofit organizations:

• The Acorn Center for the Performing Arts, Three Oaks, MI, for general support
• African American History and Literature Gallery, Benton Harbor, MI, for their food pantry
• Brandywine Community Schools, Niles, MI. for their Keeping Our Bobcats Warm This Winter program
• Caring Clothes Co-op, New Carlisle, IN, for general support
• Ferry Street Resource Center, Niles, MI, for their food pantry
• Harbor Country Emergency Food Pantry, Three Oaks, MI, for the food pantry
• Meals on Wheels, Niles, MI, for meals for clients across southern Berrien County
• Mosaic CCDA, Benton Harbor, MI, for their Feel Good Fridge
• Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Niles, MI, for their food pantry
• Neighbor by Neighbor, Union Pier, MI, for their food pantry
• New Carlisle Community Food Pantry, New Carlisle, IN, for the food pantry
• North Berrien Historical Museum, Coloma, MI, for general support
• Our Lady Queen of Peace, Bridgman, MI, for their food pantry
• Redbud Area Ministries, Buchanan, MI, for their food pantry, display racks, and client financial assistance
• Roti Roti Art Center, Buchanan, MI, for general support
• Scott Club, South Haven, MI, for general support
• The Soup Kitchen, Benton Harbor, MI, for general support
