25-year-old man arrested for shooting in Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. -- At approximately 3:04 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, Goshen Police officers responded to the El Imperial Bar on South Main Street after hearing the sounds of gunfire in the area. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 24-year-old male suffering a gunshot wound. 

Officers immediately provided life-saving aid, and he was later transported to a South Bend hospital for treatment.

A 25-year-old male was also found on the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to Goshen Hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Alijawon Shorter, a 25-year-old male of Elkhart, was taken into custody after attempting to leave the area of the shooting. 

Shorter was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Battery, a Level Three Felony, and booked on the charges at the Elkhart County Jail. 

This incident remains under investigation.
