22-year-old arrested for domestic battery and firearm charge

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Fulton County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a 911 call from a woman stating she needed help, while dispatchers could hear someone yelling in the background before hanging up, on Tuesday around 8:05 p.m.

Deputies then arrived at the address in the 1800 north block of C.R. 600 W. and met with the caller.

She explained there was a domestic violence situation.

Deputies then proceeded to the residence and made contact with 22-year-old Austin Jones, of Rochester.

During the interaction in the driveway near the road, deputies say Jones walked back towards the residence.  Authorities say that's when they heard several gun shots.

Several more deputies responded to assist and a short time later, Jones surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

Jones was taken for medical clearance at Woodlawn Hospital before being booked in the Fulton County Jail.

Jones is charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm, Domestic Battery, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Intimidation.

Officers with the Rochester Police Department and the Indiana State Police were also on scene.
