18-year-old arrested after police pursuit and crash in Michigan City; suspect and her three passengers injured
Michigan City Police Department MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A woman is in custody after allegedly leading Michigan City police on a wrong-way chase on a one-way road.
This happened August 14 at about 11:17 p.m. Michigan City police officials say an officer attempted to pull a car over for driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Officials say the car did not stop and led a pursuit. The car reportedly crashed into a guardrail along the South Shore Railroad at the intersection of West 11th and Ohio Streets.
All four of the people inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital. The driver, 18-year-old Jaelyn Maida, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken into custody for alleged Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Death or Catastrophic Injury, as well as three counts of Criminal Recklessness/Aggressive Driving Resulting in Catastrophic Injury or Death.
One adult passenger was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two underage passengers are also in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
