SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Saturday, Jan. 3, The LaSalle Council Scouting America introduced the 110 Hearts in 100 Days campaign.
The campaign is aimed at training 100 people in CPR and AED within the first 100 days of the year.
The initiative, launched for the first time, includes 12 trainings from January to April, with each one targeting about ten participants.
The campaign is designed for scouts, scouters, and adult volunteers and emphases the importance of being prepared.
All of the participants that attend this event will leave felling confident if a CPR situation had to be performed.
Jason Yoder, Council Program Director, stated, "We see this as a really important event for LaSalle Council and for our community as a whole. Personally, I have friends and family members that have had to do CPR or have family members that have been impacted by heart attacks and had the need to have CPR performed on them. So, we know through this that it truly will make a positive impact for our community. In addition to that, scouting America, our slogan, our motto, is to be prepared. So, by putting on these events, it helps us to ensure that our scouts, our scouters, our volunteers, are prepared in the unfortunate case that a need arises."
