Woman with history of OWI charges arrested after alleged hit-and-run
St. Joseph County Jail ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 41-year-old woman was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated after a hit-and-run crash where she allegedly hid under another vehicle Saturday, June 13.
Jenni Brewer was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person, three counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Bodily Injury and Driving While Suspended with Prior Conviction within 10 Years, all as misdemeanors.
Brewer was previously charged with Operating a Vehicle While intoxicated in August 2023 with a warrant out for her arrest and was convicted on the same charge after a plea agreement in September 2018.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Brewer was involved in a three-vehicle crash in the 3500 block of Mishawaka Avenue on Saturday, June 13.
According to others involved in the crash, Brewer ran a stop sign in a red SUV, crashing into one vehicle and pushing both into oncoming traffic to collide with another vehicle. She then allegedly fled the vehicle.
Officers say they found her underneath another vehicle a block away from the incident. Bleeding from the head, she allegedly claimed that she had three shots of vodka prior to the crash. Officers also noted Brewer smelled of alcohol and a half-empty bottle of vodka was found in her SUV.
Brewer has no future court dates for either ongoing case as of yet.
