Elkhart woman dies in crash on U.S. 12 in Cass County

MASON TWP, Mich. – A woman is dead after crashing into another vehicle Monday evening.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Kessington Road and U.S. 12 in Mason Township, MI.

The woman who died is said to be 68-year-old Margaret Elaine Willis from Elkhart.

Authorities say Willis was heading westbound on U.S. 12 when a 20-year-old male driver from Indianapolis, ran the stop sign.

Willis had to be extracted from her car before she died at the scene, police said.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The case remains under investigation.
