The weather is cold and quiet until Wednesday afternoon. A winter storm will slice through Michiana bringing heavy snow for some and a sharp split, with wintry mix for others. The heaviest snow will fall from South Bend towards Lake Michigan, with less snow South Bend to Warsaw. More than six inches of snow is possible in some areas, with the worst travel likely 6:00 PM to Midnight, Wednesday. Travel impacts are likely into Thursday morning. This is a quick-hitting system but will be high impact for about six hours. Thursday is cold, then temperatures rise again into Saturday. Another winter storm this weekend could be messier with freezing rain and snow possible. Temperatures the rollercoaster down to start next week.
