Wife, husband killed in double shooting
DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Authorities say a wife and husband were killed following a double shooting in Dowagiac Saturday evening.
The Dowagiac Police Department responded to a 911 call around 8:45 p.m. regarding a woman who had allegedly been shot by her husband.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of McOmber Street along with the Cass County Sheriff’s deputies and Pokagon Tribal officers.
Upon arrival, A 41-year-old male subject was found deceased at the scene. A 49-year-old female was discovered with an apparent gunshot wound.
Officials say at the time of the response, the 49-year-old woman was still alive. She was transported by Pride Care EMS to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
According to the press release, it does not appear that anyone else was involved in the incident.
There is no risk or concerns for the safety of the Dowagiac community, according to Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steven L. Grinnewald.
The case is under investigation.
