But the three-time defending American League Central Champion Guardians weren't going to away quietly. Second inning, Cleveland with a couple runners on, Steven Kwan smacks this ball to left field, driving in Travis Bazzan, and we're right back to even as the Guardians tie this game at 1.

Later in the second, it's Jo Adell, the trade deadline acquisition, coming up huge for Cleveland with a bases clearing triple. Adell drives in three, and the Guardians lead 4-1.

But from there, it was all Cleveland. Guardians leading 5-3 in the top of the eighth before Jose Ramirez breaks Sox fans hearts, with a bases clearing triple to drive in 3 for Cleveland.

Guardians win it 9 to 3, after the game, Sox manager Will Venable said "100 percent confidence, we've done it all year, we've been in tough spots where we haven't played our best game, we've played good games, whatever the result, these guys have come back the next day. It's really kind of been the story of this group and being able to bounce back no matter what happens."

The Sox will have to quickly turn the page and get ready for game four Thursday, where they'll have another chance to send their home crowd into a frenzy if they advance to the ALCS.
