Water main break closes Cleveland Road, boil water advisory issued
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- City of South Bend Water Works crews were called around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday for a water main break on Cleveland Road between Twyckenham Drive and Nadine Street.
By Thursday evening, repairs were complete and water was restored for customers without it.
While the main break was repaired, that section of Cleveland Road will be closed until Friday afternoon while crews put a temporary patch on the road.
A boil water advisory has been issued for approximately 1,500 customers northeast of South Bend. The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. on Sunday.
During the advisory, residents in the impacted area are asked to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, and for pets. Water should be boiled for three minutes and then cooled before consumption.
This advisory is a precaution. According to the city, there is no evidence of water contamination from the main break.
