Water bottle recycling program underway in Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- More than 16,000 pounds of empty water bottles have been recycled through a plastic water bottle recycling program in Benton Harbor.

A water bottle recycling trailer is available during water distribution hours and is located in the Housing Commission parking lot at 721 Nate Wells Sr. Drive, adjacent to the water distribution site at the Boys & Girls Club.

Residents are encouraged to take home 33-gallon clear plastic bags from the bottle distribution site to return the empty bottles in.

Plastic bags for recycling are also available for delivery, and empty bottles will be collected during State of Michigan homebound water deliveries.

To arrange water delivery to homebound or residents without transportation in the City of Benton Harbor, contact 211 or (844) 875-9211.
