Volunteer work needed to help horses help kids

THREE OAKS, Mich. -- The Spring Creek Horses Help Foundation is recruiting volunteers to help assist in teaching children how to ride horses. The foundation will hold its new volunteer training from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Spring Creek Horses Help Foundation is a nonprofit organization that specializes in an equine-assisted learning program that teaches in horse riding, behavior, and care, for under-resourced children, adults, and families. While working with the horses, the expectation for participants is to build upon life skills with animals such as responsibility, teamwork, and empathy.

"If you are interested in having fun while helping our horses help kids, please join us as a volunteer to make a difference in the lives of others. Volunteers are trained to work with children while they learn to groom, tack, and ride a horse." stated the organization, "Children attend 3-hour classes on Fridays and Saturdays in the spring and fall."

Volunteers must be adults while also having experience with horses. The new volunteer program will be held at the Spring Creek Equestrian Center, found at 16771 Pardee Road in Three Oaks.

Registration is required before attending. To register message organizer Alison at 269-756-3894 or by email at [email protected].
