SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The victims of two separate homicides from this weekend have been identified.

On Sunday, Nov. 1 at around 1 a.m., South Bend Police responded to a call to the 600 block of S. Liberty Street for a medical assist. While delivering medical care, officers discovered the stab wound. 

The victim was identified as 60-year-old Fredrick Phillips of South Bend. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The same morning about an hour later at 2:25 a.m., South Bend Police were called to the 900 block of E. Ireland Road for reports of a shooting. When the officers arrived, one victim was taken to the hospital. 

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Jeffrey Sheppard of South Bend. Sheppard was later reported to have succumbed to his injuries.

Both families were notified.
