UPDATE: The Marshall County Coroner reports Thursday morning's autopsy of 46-year-old Elizabeth Hite confirmed she died from multiple stab wounds.

Her death has been ruled as a Homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY: MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A Goshen woman is dead, and a man was hospitalized following a stabbing early Wednesday morning in a rural area near Bremen.

The Marshall County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 46-year-old Elizabeth Hite.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a residence near Jute and 1st Roads around 4 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a male subject with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Marshall County Coroner, that same man has been arrested. His identity has not yet been released.

The incident remains under investigation, with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department being assisted by Indiana State Police and The Bremen Police Department. Authorities say they are in the process of obtaining and executing a search warrant at a property on Jute.

“Currently, the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police are executing or obtaining a search warrant for a property here, for a criminal investigation,” said Lt. Det. Les McFarland with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department Wednesday Morning.

The coroner says the incident is believed to be domestic, and officials have emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.

“There’s not much we can say at this point,” McFarland added. “We’re continuing forward with the investigation. There’s no threat to public safety or any concerns coordinated with this property at this time.”

The road has since reopened, though crime scene tape remains around a vehicle parked in front of the residence.

An autopsy for Hite is scheduled for Thursday morning to determine her official cause of death.

The Marshall County Prosecutor's Office declined to comment on the case but told ABC57 an update is expected by the end of the week.
