SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman that occurred in downtown South Bend on Tuesday night. This incident marks the fourth victim of gun violence in South Bend in the past week.
Officers responded to call on the 100 block of South Michigan Street along a row of restaurants and hotels at around 9:45 p.m.
The woman victim was located and taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Violent Crimes Unit is now handling the investigation.
