SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- All kids and staff are safe after a vehicle fire sparked in the parking lot of KinderCare South Bend (3230 S.R. 23) Tuesday morning.
Flames could be seen shooting up through falling rain around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
KinderCare Center Director Eryn Catchings says the building was evacuated and the South Bend Fire Department was called to extinguish the blaze relatively quickly.
Kids and staff were out in the rain for a brief time, but umbrellas and blankets were available, and the day continued as scheduled after the burned vehicle was removed from the parking lot, Catchings said.
