U.S. 20 lane reductions for a bridge project

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Monday that U.S. 20 will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the bridge going over Norfolk Southern Railroad beginning July 19.

INDOT says the closures will be due to a bridge deck overlay project that is expected to last through late August.

The bridge project is a protective treatment that is being done to extend the life of the bridge deck.

Drivers travelling through the construction zone are encouraged to stay alert of crews at work and should allow themselves more time in their travel as traffic will slow down in this area.
