United Way of Southwest Michigan's July 11th Rock The Boat event

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --United Way of Southwest Michigan is asking the local community to help meet and exceed the goal of 30 boats to race in the Rock The Boat Cardboard Boat Races.

This event will be at the Inn at Harbor Shoes in St. Joseph, on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Featuring life-sized boats made entirely of cardboard, spectators can see these boats race in heats in the river channel in person and online here.

The goal is to raise funds for United Way of Southwest Michigan, while having some fun.

75 total spots are available for competing teams, with the races expected to draw in as many as 3,000 people, building on the success of the previous 2019 event.

Prospective participants can sign up online here, but registration will only be open through Friday, June 21.

This event is free for spectators, but donations are appreciated.

Food and drinks will be available as well.
