Uneventful Tuesday gives way to a potential winter storm Wednesday

NOW: Uneventful Tuesday gives way to a potential winter storm Wednesday

Another calm day with high temperatures near freezing is in store today as mostly cloudy skies hang overhead. A brief snow shower is possible later this morning, but any snow we see today is only foreshadowing for tomorrow. With a winter storm watch in effect for those counties bordering the lake, Michiana is gearing up for what will likely be the most significant snowfall this season so far. While still working out the main axis of where/how much snow falls versus freezing rain/wintry mix, the general consensus on timing is that snow arrives tomorrow early afternoon before 3 PM in La Porte, Starke, and Pulaski Counties and expands east with time. The worst time to be on the road will be starting around 5-6 PM during tomorrow's evening commute and lasting through early Thursday morning. The highest snowfall totals will be concentrated NW of an imaginary line running from Plymouth to LaGrange with a higher chance of mixed precipitation/freezing rain southeast of that same line. Lake effect snow showers are expected early Thursday as well, gradually tapering off by the afternoon. Friday is quiet and generally cloudy with highs in the mid 20s.

Today: Mostly cloudy. High 32.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Low 20.

Wednesday: PM snow. High 29.

Thursday: AM snow showers. High 26.
