Two sent to hospital after Cass County crash Friday

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Two elderly drivers are recovering in the hospital Friday afternoon after their cars collided in Cass County earlier in the day.

According to Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke, the call came in around 12:20 p.m. on April 26 of a personal injury crash near the intersection of Leet and Beebe Roads in Howard Township.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by 61-year-old David Culp of Niles was going southeast on Beebe Road, and that 74-year-old Anthony Lauricella, also of Niles, failed to yield when turning from Leet onto Beebe.

Culp was transported to Memorial hospital for injuries sustained during the crash, while Lauricella was transported to Lakeland Niles hospital.

The sheriff's office says both men were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
