UPDATE: On July 12 the Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced that the bodies of 45-year-old Eduardo Rivera Jr., and 32-year-old Salvador Lopez, both of Elk Grove, Ill., were recovered this afternoon from Lake Michigan.

Authorities say both victims were located approximately one and a half miles from where they were last seen on July 5.

ORIGINAL: LAKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Authorities say Indiana Conservation Officers are searching for two men in Lake Michigan after they went missing on Friday, July 5.

"At approximately 2:40 p.m. CT, conservation officers began their search, responding to a report that two people were missing after jumping from their boat near Hammond," authorities said. "Officers located the boat nearly two and a half miles off the shore of Whiting and were advised that an additional man was missing but wearing a life jacket."

Authorities say a multi-agency search was initiated for the area and at approximately 4:30 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard located the missing man wearing a life jacket. He was transported to an area hospital and later released.

As if Monday morning, the search for the other two missing men is still underway and their identities are being withheld at this time pending family notification.

Officials say weather conditions in the area are hurting search efforts due to strong winds and high waves.
