SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A family and their pets are now displaced following a structure fire.
The South Bend Fire Department was called to the 1100 block of Diamond Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Thursday. Five people who were inside the home at the time were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived. Crews then found the fire in the front room of the first floor.
The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes, and two dogs were then safely removed from the home by firefighters. After being checked at the scene, two juveniles were taken to the hospital. The American Red Cross is now helping the family while the South Bend Fire Department investigates the cause of the fire.
