WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pete Hoekstra, the former congressman of Michigan’s second district, is now a top candidate for the new National Intelligence Director.
President Donald Trump confirmed to reporters on Friday that Hoekstra is among the candidates to be potentially nominated for the job, saying, “I like Pete Hoekstra a lot.”
President Trump appointed Hoekstra as the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands in 2018.
With Dan Coats stepping down as the director, Trump will need to appoint a new one, but he says that he is not in a hurry to do so.
