Transpo and Interurban Trolley announce route and schedule changes

South Bend Public Transportation Corporation

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation along with the Interurban Trolley has announced the launch of redesigned bus networks starting on June 2.

According to Transpo, "The changes follow the completion of the CONNECT Transit Plan which was nearly two years of research, planning, public engagement and development."

They then go on to highlight how the plan came about and how experts got involved.

"The CONNECT Transit Plan was completed in a partnership between Transpo, MACOG, and the Interurban Trolley and led by transit-planning experts Jarrett Walker + Associates. The plan resulted in a Short-Term (budget-neutral) Network along with an Additional Funding Network which is a longer range, 10-year plan that envisions expanded service and would require additional funding be secured prior to implementation" said Transpo.

These redesigned networks will include adjusted bus routes that will allow for improved and efficient service to major destinations throughout the Mishawaka and South Bend area, officials say. It's also aimed to improve route connections between the Mishawaka, South Bend, and Elkhart areas.

Transpo advises passengers may notice new stop signs have been installed at new bus stop locations as well as QR codes that will allow passengers to access additional route information.

Passengers can download the Passio Go app for real time bus tracking, route information, and schedule updates.
