Town of Hamlet extends utility bill penalties

HAMLET, Ind. -- Officials from the Town of Hamlet said they will waive utility penalties until the end of June. The waiver was first put in place in April because of the COVID-19 public health emergency but the town council decided to pass a resolution to extend it.

Officials did say that most residents have been pretty good about paying their bills despite the pandemic forcing many local businesses to lay off their employees for a few weeks as they temporarily shut their doors.

Residents can continue to place their payments in the drop box at Hamlet Town Hall.
