NOTRE DAME, Ind. – It began with a tweet by Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel saying LSU is expected to hire Brian Kelly as the school’s next head coach.
An hour later, ESPN posted a mock-up photo of Kelly in LSU gear.
ABC57 obtained an email Coach Kelly sent players apologizing for not telling them about his departure in person rather than having them find out through social media and news reports. He then went on to say he’d have more information for players at 7 a.m. meeting. That’s scheduled to happen Tuesday morning.
There has been no formal announcement from the University of Notre Dame or the football program yet.
This is a developing story.
