UPDATE: I&M moves up expected power restoration time, current weather conditions unsafe for crews
UPDATE: As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, MEC reports about 1,600 customers remain without power.
MEC officials add this morning’s storms caused some additional outages, and crews will continue to work until customers have been fully restored.
The largest outages are in Jefferson and Texas Townships, with some outages throughout southwest Michigan.
I&M officials said as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, all remaining customers without power should expect a restoration time of 3 p.m. Wednesday.
I&M also said due to current weather conditions including heavy rain, lightning, and high winds, it is unsafe for I&M crews to complete restoration work at this time.
Officials say lightning and wind gusts exceeding 30 mph make it hazardous for crews to operate bucket trucks.
Officials say crews are prepared to resume work once it is safe to do so.
