Teen enters plea agreement in Christmas shooting

Carter Dixon

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A teen charged as an adult for a Christmas Day shooting is expected to plead guilty in connection to the incident.

Carter Dixon, who was 15 years old when charged in March, entered a guilty plea agreement in court last week. Dixon is now expected to be sentenced on Oct. 17.

Court documents state on Dec. 25, 2024, Dixon allegedly shot 15-year-old girl, shattering her jaw and/or dislodging teeth.

An order to charge Dixon as an adult came after South Bend Police Department officers were dispatched on three separate occasions, including Nov. 6, 30, and Dec. 25 of 2024, to investigate a discharge of a firearm or the possession of a firearm by Dixon.
