SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Swoop the Silverhawk is set to retire as the South Bend Cubs mascot at the end of the season this year.
In preparation, he wrote a letter addressed to the fans, thanking them for their support over the last three decades.
Swoop started with the South Bend Silver Hawks and continued with the team when they became the South Bend Cubs. Swoop will hand the reins to Stu D. Baker the Cub, who will take over mascot duties full time.
