UNITED STATES-A new study shows airline pilots may be becoming too dependent on automated flying, and the FAA committee is issuing a warning for something called automation addiction.
Auto pilot systems control planes for all but 3-minutes of a flight. Pilots generally only take control during takeoffs and landings.Several deadly crashes have resulted from pilots making incorrect decisions when a plane stalls.
Currently, airlines and regulators discourage or even prohibit pilots from turning off autopilot and flying the planes themselves.
